Pinot Noir 2018 – San Michele

“A wine of elegance, between earth and sky: with an elusive character…”

Bronze Medal at the Los Angeles Wine Competition 2022

The San Michele Pinot Noir cuvée is a tribute to its sanctuary; a vineyard located on the old pilgrim route, via Roméa, overlooked by a 15th century chapel dedicated to the Archangel.
A beautiful tribute to the “Most glorious Prince of the Heavenly Hosts”, Archangel Saint Michael.
San Michele is a wine with a very strong identity, expressing the grace of a wine without artifice, sincere, but nonetheless extremely sophisticated.

“The “the king’s vineyard”, from which the precious grapes for this Barbera come, stands on marl-limestone soil particularly suited to the production of structured reds. The 5600 vines are raised according to the French Guyot method, and exposed South-East.

Harvest:

The careful choice of harvest time and careful tasting of the grapes are the main tools by which the property prepares to vinify a product of the highest quality..

Vinification:

Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, maceration lasts about 30 days during which only a few replacements are made.

Mellowing:

Maturing for one year in Allier oak barrels. The tasting can be done young or after a few years of aging in bottle.

Tastting Experience:

The stylistic signature of this wine is elegance. Elegance in the varied aromas of black and red berries, ripe hay, brushwood and oriental spices. The bright ruby red color with burgundy reflections is picturesque, while the wine flows lively, ethereal in the mouth, suspended between earth and firmament: heavenly.

The delicate tannins develop on the finish on notes opening onto a surprising hint of saffron pistil, expressing the nobility of a wine sheltered from ephemeral artefacts.
